Since I knew relating my LaDeze GTG experience would come from a limited perspective and, becoming more accepting of a failing memory despite compulsive note taking, I solicited comments from my fellow Lazy Daze wonder-women. I personally thank each and every one of you for helping to make RVing a joyous experience for this particular LDer. Lorna [Wagonmistress & Fulltimer] |
We did it again! This one was even better ... especially because of our presenters! I think this one was a success in every way every one had fun, it was a very cohesive group, we set up our little village and had a great time. I think the group has a very strong future ahead of it and lots of great energy. And I personally think 10 is a great number of participants, although a few more would probably retain the same nice coziness we enjoyed.

A friend asked me if I didn't think that driving 1300 miles to spend 5 days at a get-together with a group of unknown people was a gamble -- what if the women are weird or boring, or you don't like them (or they don't like you!), or you have nothing in common besides those motorhomes you drive? Well, it never occurred to me that the "La-Deze" group members would be anything other than what they turned out to be - bright, independent, capable, interesting and adventurous women who each brought something unique and valuable to our experience. The "Ridgway 10" are an eclectic bunch - varied ages, backgrounds, talents, and personalities, but all showing a willingness to contribute and share their skills, knowledge, expertise and friendship; not one "clinker" among 'em! There was a lot of eating, some general "hootin' and hollerin'" - including wine-tasting at the "view of the mountains and water" overlook in the pines -- a bit of musing and thoughtful idea exchanges around the campfire, some marveling at the stars in the clear Colorado nights, informative RV-related and "on the road stuff" seminars, a jeep trip up rutted high-mountain mining trails with top-of-the-world views, and even a "work detail" morning when everyone pitched in to clean grills, shovel out firepits, and sweep campsites to offset part of the campsite charge! The whole thing was an exceptional experience made so by the personalities of the women who attended. I hope that many more LD women will want to come play, learn, and share the warmth and friendship of this group of "uppity" La-Deze! Joan [Traveled from California.] |
What a fabulous time I had meeting you and all my other "sisters", the La-Deze! I have never eaten so well, or so much, in my life. This group can really cook. And all the evening meals were followed by everyone chatting away, as if we had known each other all our lives, in front of one of Mimi's great log fires.
The presentations were so well thought out. Not only did Joan show us all we needed to know about tires, and some of the mistakes we were making, she helped us become more efficient in extracting information from the web ... her handouts were worth their weight in gold. Jonna cleared up all the misinformation we had about connecting to the net while on the road. Mimi, who is such a whiz at keeping Tortuga on the road, shared many mechanical tips. I feel so empowered by all this knowledge. Uppity women know their rigs from top to bottom! As if this wasn't enough activity, we got to see all the other rigs and how we all personalize our spaces and tweak every inch of usable space to our advantage. I still laugh when I think of all the engine hoods open to keep those pesky chipmunks out. Suzanne did a great job picking the site and arranging for excursions. This was an outing to remember. I can't wait for out next get togethers at the beach and the desert and to see everyone again. Linda [Traveled from INDIANA!] |

| I learned more in these five days than I have in four years of RVing.

One of the things I have come away with after each LaDeze gathering is how capable I am and can be. No matter what happens in my life, I have abilities, great friends and wonderful companionship to sustain me. We provide a great safety net for each other, and a source of frivolity and fun. There is no judgment, even for this silly woman who is ga ga over a new guy. So bottom line, I love the support, caring and laughter, especially the laughter. I need to hear repeats of many things RV, since these do not come naturally. Each time I retain more and more, and the women-only atmosphere is perfect. If I do nothing else this Summer, I do *not* want to miss the woman's GTG in Colorado. Betty [Traveled from Washington.] |

Mimi and I both had a wonderful time at the La-Deze rally. It far exceeded my expectations. I can't thank Lorna and Suzanne enough for the work they put into organizing this. From the moment we spotted Lorna's LD in Ridgway on our way up, the week was enchanting. Every single one of the women there were interesting and fascinating to talk to. For me, I think just meeting all of them and getting to spend time talking to them was the best part. I also loved the rig tours. It's such fun to see what these creative women had done with their LDs. I got a lot of good ideas for better ways to store things and ways to customize an LD. Our seminars were great and the amount of talent and information among these 10 women was incredible. Another highpoint was JC's wine tasting at the scenic overlook. She had everything there, evaluation sheets, nice glasses, bread and cheese and water to cleanse the palette... it was wonderful. The views and the company were excellent as well. I had a borrowed projector and screen and loved showing the mexico pictures outside with the pines and the scent of the fire, really an exceptional experience. I'm looking forward to the spring get-together. We're hoping to catch the desert in its spring bloom. Since JC is organizing it I know it will be a great event. I highly recommend any of you ladies with lazy daze to make an effort to join us. It's the most fun I've had at a rally in a long time. No pressure, no tight schedule, lots of stuff to do and lots of interesting women to talk to. Plenty of opportunity to ask about anything Lazy Daze that you want to know and plenty of knowlege that can get you the answers. We only gossiped about all of you on this forum a little. We're willing to expand that if anything really juicy comes up though. Jonna & Mimi [Fulltimers] |
