Every pond needs fish, these are my Mollies and the chief mosquito hunters. This weekend is the great blogger get-together here in Mérida. I should have been writing about it before this but, I forgot.
I did agree though to have the welcoming cocktail party here at the house on Thursday at 7pm.
To that end, Mimi and I went to Costco today and bought lots of booze and wine. Oh, we also bought a lot of juice and refrescos as well. I'll get some food too on Thursday. My hope is that everyone will come early and stay late and do a lot of drinking and talking. My kind of party.
Oh, we got plastic glasses too. You see, I still only have the 4 plastic plates that we traveled with in the RV, along with 4 plastic salad plates and 4 plastic bowls. Life was simple then. I'll put the dip and chips on them for the party.
Send me an email if you need the address. It will be fun.

Take lots and lots of pictures. And most important . have FUN!
I love the fishpond pictures. So far I have 15 people who are coming to your house on Thursday. Is that a good start?
regards,
Theresa
Wow, ya'll have fun - I'll be there in spirit!
Yay! The more the merrier. We'll miss you Babs, we'll raise a toast in your direction... north right? Ha!
I love the pictures. Your camera does an amazing job. I am sorry to hear about the indoor pond. I hope there is a solution so that you won't have to deal with the mess of demolition.
Have a wonderful blogger's weekend!! Corrinne
Gorgeous fishies! I am sooooo very sad that I won't be at the meetup, but I will be with you in spirit. Drink lots, eat lots and take lots of photos for us poor souls that cannot attend. Have a great time!
What kind of fish is that? is lovely!!
Jonna, I discovered your blog early this morning and spent the whole day absorbing it, from when you two bought the house forward. I hope to be closing on a 're-do' house near Santiago in the next few weeks and your writings are an absolute treasure trove! If I see you having a sopa de lima at the Reina some day, I'll figure out how to thank you.
Susan, they are Molly's or Mollies (?) a live bearing tropical fish. Up north they are kept in aquariums but they are native to this area, or some of them are, and they do really well in our high PH water.
Sharon, welcome to the neighborhood! If you've read the blog you will recognize the house so ring the bell if you are in the neighborhood. Good luck with your purchase and your renovation. It's a great experience.
Will do, Jonna. I'm a lifelong expat (including living in QRoo in the 70s) and can't wait to get back to the expat world. Guess I'm tired of the eyes-glazed-over look I get up here when people ask "So where are you from?" I added a reference to me spending a whole day reading your blog, on a site I built to help people 'reinvent' themselves in order to retire. It's in the Living Abroad section of www.plan-b-retirement.com . I get lots of people who write and say they WANT to make changes but few do. Hmmmmm. It's the old 'lead a horse to water' adage. Well, THIS old horse is drinking!
