Well, we spent the night and while we have more stuff to move from the RV we had the essentials... coffee, wine, toothbrushes.Henry and Terrence came over last night and we hung out in every room, drank many bottles of wine and champagne, ate and talked and talked. It was a great way to spend our first evening at the house. Once they left, we started locking doors and trying to find light switches and herded the animals into the bedroom with us. It was cold, we had 2 hot water bottles and 3 dogs and it was cold!
It was also alien and I can't say we had a restful night. Different noises, different lights, and no drinking water. We forgot to bring up the carafe of drinking water and since it took half a dozen locked doors to get to the kitchen, I didn't attempt it. Mimi did try apparently and Tita tried to escape and Mimi fell on the slick floor trying to catch her. Not good, I'm sorry I missed it.
I was up at 8:30am which, if you know me at all you know is not a normal occurrence. The new coffee maker worked great and with the sun shining everything felt a lot better. We need to figure out the door locking and the water getting and the dog sleeping so that we can get more sleep tonight.
Workers started arriving at 9:30am, they are installing different lights in the pool and ponds. I am more comfortable with a 12v transformer and low voltage pool lights with smaller watts so they are switching them all out.
Also, the guy with the screws for our dining table arrived and put it together. We discovered there were no screws in the boxes when it was delivered and it has taken many calls to get it sorted, it's done though and it looks great. There is a lot left to do and we will be living with a minimum of furnishings for a while. There's no furniture for the office so we are using it to store the Dodwell's purchases for their house.
The living room looks odd, not sure how to fix that or what it needs besides a coffee table, some lamps and art on the walls. I put the grey swing chairs in there but they don't really work, I like them but can't figure out where to put them. They may end up in the office since they make into 2 twin beds and that will be the overflow guest room.
Oh, and a TV, it definitely needs an HDTV! I'm choking on the price for the one I want though and trying to decide if I should take a chance and try an online store down here that seems legitimate but that I don't have any personal recommendations for. Anyone out there used Paguito?

Congratulations!!
You don't sound too cheerful about it...but just think of it as an adventure...you're going to laugh about all of this awkwardness later. You have plenty of time for everything to fall in place.
As far as heat, we bought an electric heater at Costco here that is like a radiant oil heater without the oil...they call it a micathermic heater. If they have them there you could get one for each side of the bed for the cold nights.
Buena suerte!
Cheryl
I'm sure it takes some getting used to; and you will work out the kinks like having water available.
It looks GREAT from here! Your BIG sofa looks comfortable and like one of those Sony ads where everyone was swept back from the high sound pressure level or something ;-)
You didn't write about your new landline Internet connection - inquiring minds want to know.
Everything look just fantastic! What an accomplishment. The sleep patterns will jiggle back into place soon and new noises will sound familiar. Keep posting those pictures.
Congrats! You two have worked very hard to make your new home home even though you may not be quite there yet. Every thing looks so good.
The house looks great. It always take me a bit to find where things should go -- to make the place look like a home, rather than a house. One of my music clients lived in a London flat that looked as if it had been put together by a set designer. It had. Yours is going to look like who the two of you are.
May your new home bring you both happiness.
Your friend,
Jorge
Jonna, I have moved our furniture so many times it isn't funny. Except for the kitchen-dining room and the baths none of the rooms are being used how we originally thought.
The sala looks sterile, but that will change. Have you tried angling the furniture or making small intimate groupings?
regards,
Theresa
Congratulations on your beautiful house.
The kitchen is really To Die For and I want to marry the stairs. The colors are simply breathtaking.
I'm so incredibly happy for you guys. It will just get better and better and better.
Congratulations!!!! As everyone has noted, you will soon become comfortable as you work out the logistics of living in the new house....it is stunning....Kathe
BIG congratulations to you both (and the furbabies of course). I wish you many years of happiness in your gorgeous new home!
Welcome Home!
Your home is absolutely gorgeous. It's stunning! I eagerly await new pictures and check every day for updates. Think of the memories you will have and the fun to come - enjoy!
I want to be you!
Cathy (a lurker)
Thanks all, it is getting more comfortable although we still aren't sleeping very well. Part of that is the mattress is harder than our previous memory foam and we just aren't used to the sounds of the city yet.
