Almost magically since my last post, Tita has started to control herself and our nights have been free of bites and attacks. I guess, that was the dark night before the dawn. I hope so anyway. We'd been religiously yelling and holding her down when she bit us for about a week and it felt like little had changed. I guess it just took longer or she had one last night of testing the limits. Don't get me wrong, she will still bite and try to scratch you if you hold her when she doesn't want to be but it does take something to provoke her now. She's more amenable to random pets and scratches without it turning into a battle.
We try to never play with her with our hands and if she's in a killer mood we throw her stuffed horse at her and watch her massacre it. She then carries it around between her legs like a lion with its kill. In other news, it's been a tad hot lately. Isn't that right girls from the QRoo?? I started wondering how hot it really is and if it is really cooler over here on the coast than in Merida. So, I got these new weather toys on the blog page, they're over there at the right. I filched the address from Cancun Canuck because it shows the feels like number which is some combo of the temp and the humidity. If these things are right, it is actually hotter in Playa del Carmen on the water than it is in Merida. How odd is that?
It was all I could do today not to just retreat to the bedroom, turn on the AC and stay there. The main problem today is that until late in the afternoon there was no wind. Then, like someone turned on a fan, this rain squall blew through and now it is lovely. I'm sitting here in front of the open doors with waves still crashing from the stormlet and a cool fresh breeze blowing in. I hope it lasts through tomorrow.

Hey ladies! That pic of Tita in a bowl is absolutely darling. She is so cute... so hard to imagine her clawing and scratching you guys! LOL
Glad she's coming around tho... perhaps it's only because she's still a kitten and doesn't know the difference between fight/play yet...
Anyway, keep the pics coming!
Fned.
So glad to hear things are looking up. She is just so cute! But, as you probably well know, the cutest girls are usually the biggest bitches too!
Maybe your kitten is reading your Blog when you aren't looking - better shape up wouldn't want to lose THIS situation ;-)
Glad you guys have been able to get a peaceful sleep. She really is TOOOOOOO cute, too bad she's possessed, LOL!
Calypso, you may be right! I awoke predawn to a bite on my belly button! Grrrrrrr, Then she moved to my face, though I've figured the cause of that, she's after the wisps of hair that blow from the fan. So, what, now I have to sleep with a hair net? lol She experienced a short flight from the bite on the nose and came back a bit subdued. That lasted, maybe 5 minutes, just long enough for me to start back to sleep. We then started on the I'm the Mom grab and flatten move, all the while trying not to wake the peacefully sleeping one.
I think we'll look for quiet toys and load the bedroom with them. I would really rather not have to make her sleep in the kennel at night.
Oh well, least she got me early enough to get some painting done on the deck before the sun hit it. :)
Gee, thanks Tita
Hi,
I'm glad Tita's in good hands. She would have been too much for my old girl to handle. Do you anything about the kittens that were at CEA until the end of June? (rescued from the big resort down the beach). just curious.
Tamara
Cute photo in the cup!
Ya'll need to get in that travel vehicle and head to the mountains of San Miguel - temp as I write this 72 - high today 80! PERFECTO
There's a nice little RV place called La Siesta with big trees and stuff......
Ok, I've been gone a few weeks and just finished reading all your posts and ya'll have the dubious distinction of being the ONLY people I've ever known to have a cave under your house! YIKES>>>>>>
The last couple days have actually felt cooler than last week. Last week was killer hot. Even here on the coast.
The boys are LOVING Tita's photos and are awing and cooing over them.
Hi Tamara, I think those kittens are at Jen and Bart's of Turtle Bay cafe. I'll check.
Babs, those temps do sound nice. We love La Siesta! We've spent almost a month there 2 times and enjoyed it a lot. It's good to know it is still there. We do need to get in our Tortuga and head north for a bit but it's not happening this summer. We need to be here until the house is done and the hurricanes are gone :) Of course, by that time all our friends up north are ready to come down and visit us! Maybe we should turn the cave into another guest room?
HM, we crossed in posting. It's been cooler here since that rain last night. It's hot though.
I'm glad the boys are enjoying the pics. Oh, and Babs, that isn't a cup she's in, it's a big old mixing bowl. It was sitting on the counter and she seemed to think it made a perfect bed. We've found her in it twice!
I'm glad she's starting to settle down. I thought she would. She's only a kitten after all, and has to be taught that biting and scratching aren't allowed. Keep up the good work, kitty mamas...it just takes time. :)
My 10 year old Blue Siamese only bites me (gently) when he is trying to tell me his food bowl (in the back bathroom) is empty. He has me well trained. :D
Oh, that photo of her in the bowl is so frickin cute, which, you know, makes sense. They always say that when the devil comes, he will be veeeerrrry good-lookin.
