This is just as the rain arrived.

*edited to add that it now appears that Dolly may slide by us to the north, not the south. This prediction stuff is pretty loose, it changes hourly and you can make yourself nuts watching the forecasts too much. What we have had so far (11:30pm) are bands of rain and some wind but nothing very strong. It seems that our friend Wayne on Isla Mujeres - an island north of Cancun - is getting a lot more action than we are. We wish him well out there on that sand spit! Hold on Wayne!

Jaime called earlier to tell us that the governor of the state has closed the road between Tulum and Felipe Carrillo Puerto which is way south of us. Does anyone really know what is going on? I doubt it. They have also shut down all liquor sales in the state as of 5pm this afternoon. I'll bet that either that is being ignored in the hotels and resorts or there are some really unhappy tourists out there.

We appreciate the updates a lot. But keep safe. (Good grief! I am starting to sound like my mother.) Seriously, though, play safe.

Keep the pics coming, they're better than photos of our backyard, lol! I love a stormy ocean pic, as long as you guys are safe!

I love storms but keep your heads down! It sounds like a big one - it even made the news up here in British Columbia!

I just updated the post, so far there is no sloshing going on. Light rain, light wind.

I plan to go to bed, turn on the AC and the fan so the white noise is huge and sleep through it!

They cut off sales in the grocery stores earlier than 5 pm. I got caught with my pants down, damn it.

All the restrictions are tied to the alerts. I was listening to SolEstereo all day yesterday (or was it the day before? my mind is a little muddled) and they gave updates on when the port would be closed, airport status, liquor sales status (they even made a point to say that EVEN THE TOURISTS would be cut off), curfew status and federal road status.

When they call Alerta Rojo both a curfew and federal road restriction is put in place. They were also talking specifically about the road south from Tulum, so that might have been in addition (but I really didn't pay attention). Da Guv was the one issuing orders.

I'm absolutely SHOCKED that I knew something you didn't. :)

Oh, and did you know that QRoo has its own meterologist?

No liquor AND your pants down??? How boring Heather! Oh, and why the f don't you answer your cell phone? We're trying to give you money for the pet shelter and you never answered the phone or a text!!

Thanks for the info Harvestmoon, you know a lot more about a lot of things that I don't. Including the fact that QRoo has a meterologist although if I thought about it I'd probably assume that was true. For another thing, your spanish comprehension is better. I figured out that #1 we don't have a radio except the ones in the vehicle cabs and #2 I would have about 5 minutes worth of patience for the intense concentration it takes for me to understand Spanish on the radio. I've tried it driving around when they only talk between songs. For something like a weather report and a politician speaking? I'd drop out pretty quick.

Last night was pretty intense.

This is pretty much what it looked like as I was floating around in the ocean on Sunday lol! Well except fuzzier cuz the rain was hitting the water all around me!

I didn't even know it was a warning/watch whatever or that dry law went into effect until I was already shut up in my house with a beer in my hand!

I guess I'm just that oblivious! OOPS! Maybe I need an I Phone to keep me better informed!! (yes I have phone envy) Besos!
