We made it out of Santa Rosa and down to Albuquerque tonight. We have shopping to do and a list of places we need to go, we stopped at CostCo on the way and now we are parked at WalMart for the night. Tomorrow, WalMart for groceries, Trader Joe's, Sear's and maybe Camping World as our catalytic heater isn't working right. Then we are off to Deming to wait for the mail, deposit some checks, pay the property taxes, switch the phone to the NoAmerica plan and finally, cross the border.
It's not much warmer here in Alb, in the 20's. I'm not whining, just saying that it is bloody cold and I am not amused. I don't have the clothes for this weather. I have maybe 3 pairs of sweat pants, a sweatshirt jacket, a rain jacket and 1 wool sweater. Luckily I found a pair of gloves in the raincoat pocket and Mimi had 2 knit caps so I got one of them. Thank god for Uggs! Without them, and with cold feet, I would not have made it. I know I could buy more cold weather clothes but that's not the point folks, I don't want cold weather clothes I just want to get out of the cold weather.

I just found your blog and read the whole thing today!
I appreciate your devotion to the blog - people like my husband and me really need to hear your stories...keeps us going as we aren't going to head to Mexico until next summer.
We don't know exactly where we'll end up, but Merida/Progreso area is very high on our list.
Thanks again!
Nancy
By the way, our blog is www.countdowntomexico.blogspot.com

I can so relate to you. We are in Mexico (we live here) and it has been cool for here the last week or so. Cool as in below 80 F., we are shivering and I have gotten my flannel jammies out. I hope it warms up again soon. I am sick of winter LOL. I think we would be like your dogs if we had to go back to those temps. LOL
Glad you enjoy the blog Nancy and Paul, I'm going to check yours out after this. Merida or the beach around Progresso are all wonderful spots, if you like the heat you will love it there. The heat is the only drawback and that is mainly in late spring, early summer. Once the rains start, it seems better to me.
Brenda, you and I are on the same track. Perfect weather for me is hot in the daytime and between 75 and 80 at night, good sleeping weather. We often end up in the Palm Springs area in early summer and early fall and the temps are usually over 110 and up to 120, I'm fine up to 110 and can easily deal with 120. What I can't deal with is below 50. I agree with the dogs, they just stay under the blanket until we force them to go out and pee. I will admit that on the second day we were snowed in, Chica went out and started digging in the snow and chasing snowballs, she was eating frozen bunny poop is what I think. Bunny Roca. You can take the dog out of the Yucatan but you can't take the 'scrounge for scraps' out of the dog.
